Painting made easy

Creative Crown™ is very easy to paint.

Just a few tips and ground rules:

  • Never use oil or lacquer based paints or lacquer thinners.
  • Never use aerosol spray paints.
  • When in doubt, test a scrap piece. Allow to dry.

The best way to paint Creative Crown™ is with water based paints.

Prime and let dry.

Topcoat: Water based latex and enamel work well for the finish.

Apply paint with a brush or airless sprayer

Paint molding before installing molding.

Paint Recommendation:

After careful testing we have found that ICI paints save time and dry with a smooth finish.

Only 1 coat of Gripper® and 1 coat of topcoat is needed with these paints. Choose either Glidden® Ultra-Hide® Latex or Dulux® Advanced Alkyd.

ask for:

Gripper® Primer/Sealer (3210) and

Glidden® Ultra-Hide® Latex semi-gloss enamel paint (1416) or

Trim the end off each board with a power miter saw for best seams.

Install Creative Crown™ Molding with LIQUID NAILS
® Adhesive. Use only the HEAVY DUTY for Constructionand Remodeling type.

Apply adhesive to the back of the molding. Use Liquid Nails sparingly. Make dashes about 1" to 2" long every 3-4 inches.

Never "puddle" the adhesive on the molding.

Press the molding to the wall and then pull it back a few inches for about 10-15 seconds. Then press back into place. This activates the adhesive.

Watch the alignment of each board for the first 20 minutes while glue sets. Use 2 or 3 plastic head push pins to keep molding from drifting down while it sets.

Be sure to read instructions on LIQUID NAILS® tube.
